HELP..! 13 days since full extractions and wisdom tooth surgical removal.

I thought by now I would have made some sort of progress, but no I haven't .... Seems like everyday it just gets worse... More pain, more tenderness ... I've had 4 adjustments on my immediates since I had surgery and my gums and mouth in general seem to hurt worse everyday. Hurts to speak, I sound like I have a mouth full of marbles..I still haven't been able to eat anything solid.... I wore them for the first week everyday all day, only taking them out to clean and sanitize and during that time I was actually feeling ok about this process. I started taking them out at night at the beginning of week 2 to let everything "rest and relax" and honestly it hurts worse since I started doing that especially after about 8 hours ...I have been rinsing with warm saltwater a minimum of 4 or 5 times a day since I had surgery ....my stitches came out the first week but I still have big holes in my gumline..my uppers fit well everything considered but my lower is just all over the place and continues to be a huge issue..

Basically, I'm asking how long does this initial healing and familiarzation process last...? I feel that maybe these things will be a little more comfortable and my pain level will decrease after I can use some form of adhesive on them...

I'm trying to stay positive about this process.

I had my lowers extracted with bone grafting on March 11th. You must give yourself time to heal. Is it hard yes, but keep doing what you are doing. Dentist prescribed prescription ibuprofen 800mg for me. That truly helped me. If you are in pain you need to tell your dentist. I use a small food processor to purée my food. Don’t get discouraged it will get better. As soon as dentist sees fit they can put a soft liner in. That will make a huge difference. When you go to the dentist ask questions and tell them what you are struggling with. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I’m also having implants done in July to anchor the lower denture.

Thanks Barbara(s), and I get the whole healing process part of it... I'm not trying to sound like a whiner but damn this pain is almost worse than what I felt before my surgery ... I realize after having 18 surgical extractions done that there's going to be some healing that has to occur, especially since the surgeon had to incise the majority of them.

Frustrated with getting an adjustment done then within a couple hours having another adjustment that needs to be done in a different spot...I know I'm just being impatient and irritable....just needed to vent.... I'm considering the implant route on the lower after this heals up but kinda feel as if since I paid over $3,000 to a surgeon then another $5,000 to my prosthodontist the dentures would be working out a little better than what they are .. because you know "expectations" lol.

Don't get me wrong they look great and as long as I don't try and speak or eat or do pretty much anything else they are relatively comfortable or as comfortable as having two huge pieces of plastic in your mouth can be I guess..

Guess I need to pull my skirt down and deal with the healing process ..

Hi  Ed
Hopefully you will  start to feel better

Bottom dentures are usually a problem  They do floaf
around
2 implants   on the  bottom to anchor the denture is the way to go if you
can  manage the extra  cost
Good Luck

Hi Ed the information you're getting here is absolutely correct. I'm soon-to-be 62 and had denture since I was 25. It does take a little while for your gums to shrink back down some and then you're really going to see a change. You still have a ways to go with it being only 18 days so try not to panic do what you can to help you ease off the pain. And I can tell you there is a product out there that is non adhesive to your gums and it will fill in that space and it will cushion it so that in fact you won't feel all that pain from the hardness of the dentures. It is called cushion grip and there's a learning curve of how much to put in and it's not that hard to learn but I've been using it for many years and just recently they brought it back on the market. You can purchase these from Amazon eBay or directly from my cushion grip. Com. That could probably help bring you a little bit more release cuz I know when mine was fresh out I wished I had know about it. There's a lot of good people up there and there's the one lady said yes YouTube has quite a few videos about all kinds of information on your dentures. Don't be afraid to ask a question that's what everybody's up here for is to get each other through the process. Best of luck, Diana

Thanks Diana ... I do have some cushion grip .. I actually got it from Amazon along with some other products 2 days before I had my extractions ... Problem is I still have big gaping open holes in my mouth so I need to wait until those heal up ... Until then

When you're ready to use the cushion grip give me a call at 252-723-9014 and I can give you some tips and tricks that'll make it so much easier for you. Cuz there is a learning curve with how to use it. Take care.
