So, I went about the diy process. Buying an electric nail file and trying every product on the market and some that you can make yourself. Cushion Grip had been pulled from the market when I was looking so that was not an option. I assumed it was like a temporary soft reline and now I see that it is.
Cushion Grip is exactly the same as the Japanese stuff I have been buying in that they are all temporary soft-relines that fill the space, hence the word Grip and they provide padding against having the hard plastic or porcelain against your sensitive gums, hence the word cushion. Although the Japanese tubes are much larger, they both weigh about the same so the formulas are obviously different, Cushion Grip being a more dense and solid product. I have had the Cushion Grip in 3 days today and I'm already noticing a hardening of the material as well as pulling away from the denture, whereas the Japanese stuff takes a couple of weeks to get hard like that and the pulling away from the dentures takes place at around a week to a week and a half. The thinning out of the material on the lowers, where you bite down, happens at day two with Cushion Grip and does not happen until about day 8 with the Japanese EZ. That's when I would remove and replace with the Japanese EZ, at around day 8 - 12. Today, I already want to remove the Cushion Grip as the thinning where I bite down nearly excludes the Cushion Grip from cushioning. I would not use either on the top since it is very temporary and I need to work 6 days a week, it would just be too much hassle to get it right that often for the top. I can stand the lower moving, shifting and not fitting right, but not the upper. That one falls and I would be a horrified mess. I can see using this product if I were a "I'm only buying American products", if it is in fact made in the USA and only for that reason. Otherwise, the Japanese product is cheaper $11.67 to $14.45 with free shipping, from Japan to the US. I would not use either if I could just find and afford a competent dentist who could accomplish a soft-reline.
