BIG FAN OF SECURE ADHESIVE!!!!
Oh my goodness! I have had my dentures, full uppers and lowers, for a few months now, and have REALLY been struggling to keep them "glued" in. I haven't had as much trouble with the upper, but I still have had to try several different adhesives to keep them secure. Now, my lowers have been a nightmare. I've spent quite a lot of money on quite a few different locally-bought adhesives, and I was about to give up. I don't have a lot of bone left on the bottom because of erosion due to lupus. So, my lowers don't have that much bone to hang onto anyway. Then, no matter what adhesive I used, my lowers would start clacking around in my mouth after a couple of hours no matter what. And, every time I tried to eat anything, no matter what it was, within a couple of minutes, there they go again, clacking around. Very embarrassing. I got to a point where I would just automatically take my lowers out before eating anyway, but then I would end up with a funny-looking mouth while smiling and talking during a meal. And, if we were out in public at a restaurant, Starbucks, anywhere, I'd worry about whether the bathroom was for one person only or for multiple women. The former was no problem because I could lock the door and wash my mouth and lower denture out and put the denture back in. But, if it were a multiple-user bathroom, I'd worry about having to do that in front of other people. Agony! Well, PROBLEM SOLVED! I had read on other denture forums about Secure adhesive. So, I ordered that online. SMARTEST decision I've ever made in my life, y'all! This is like SUPER GLUE for dentures. I'm serious! I can eat again! I even ate a tossed salad yesterday with no problem! I have been so worried about this, just terribly worried. My dentist was advising me to get implants so I could snap my dentures into my mouth. Trouble is, that costs $2,500 per implant for a total of $20,000 (four bottom and four upper). Um, hell no. That would take a HUGE chunk out of my husband's retirement savings, and that is not happening. He is a house painting contractor and works a very physical job, and he is now 53 years old. I want the poor guy to be able to retire and not work his ass off the rest of his life. I don't make enough money after bills to pay $20,000. I have lupus and other health problems, and even though I work full time, money is tight. $20,000 is a sh*tload (sorry for the curse word, but hey) of money. I've even looked at the possibility of flying to Mexico and getting mini-implants, which are much cheaper, especially in Cancun, but hello, that would still be thousands of dollars I do NOT want to spend. Fortunately, problem solved. If I could kiss the inventor of Secure adhesive, I would do it. I'd kiss the ground he or she walks on. My only problem now is getting my uppers unglued in the evenings before bedtime. I think I'm going to buy the little hook (online) that teenagers use to . . . no, I think I might actually be able to use a small crochet hook. I'll try that first, and if that doesn't work, I'll buy the little hook that teens use to unhook their retainers. I don't want to damage my dentures in any way. Alright, sorry for the length of this post, but the short version: I LOVE SECURE DENTAL ADHESIVE AND RECOMMEND IT HIGHLY! P.S. There is a very brief burning sensation when I put them on, but I just notice it for a few seconds, and then all is well. I have read online to not eat or drink for the first 15 minutes after putting them in, and that works. Enjoy!
