Sleep with dentures?

If you sleep with your dentures is it only when your gums have healed?

My denturist encouraged, supported my intention to sleep with my immediate dentures in, from day-1 post-surgery to present.

She believes the more we can wear them, adapt/accomodate to them as the new prosthesis that they are, the better the transition of our mouths, tissue, and psychological adjusment to dentures, and in maintaining healthy bite relationship, and better jaw relationship, alignment.

And, fyi, my extraction sites are still very much in tender healing phase at week 5. I do remove them for some hours daily.

[Perhaps see my recent new post 10-27-2019 on this, under Ideas Shared.]

My dentist is against sleeping in denture. I have visited with several denture wears and the opinions varied. I wear mine sometimes I just make sure I clean them really well when I get up. I also give my mouth sometime without them when no one is here. I’m 7 mo. out from my extractions and doing well now. I like my teeth, but I wish I would have done implants on the top too. That’s just to expensive. I enjoy my smile now!

Does anyone know where you can get implants super cheap in the US?
I spent thousands on just the bottom , because I had no ridge line to hold my dentures in my mouth. Would love to do the top.

My dentist told me NOT to sleep with my dentures on due to all the different bacteria that is prone to grow in the mouth.

The key is to make sure you clean them extremely well everyday. Brush them and soak them in a good fizzy cleaner for awhile. Put them back in and sleep with them if you want. My Uncle only cleaned his 2 times a week. He wore dentures for 40 yrs and didn’t have a problem. I have to clean them everyday. I also brush them in my mouth after meals.
