My Story. 26 Years Old. 22 Extractions. 9 Days Out.

I’m 26 and a personal trainer. My teeth have always been an issue and it was effecting my work. So, I finally took the leap and got dentures. It’s been a nightmare so far. Trying to stay positive, but I have hit a wall.

9 Days our from having 22 extractions. After the procedure they were suppose to place temporary dentures in, but they would not fit. They were huge, and I couldn’t close my mouth.

They made me wait a week before I could get a new mold done, and my bite. (This was because of a huge, painful blood blister on the rough of my mouth.) The only upside is that they are giving me the option of choosing my teeth. (I chose much smaller, and rounded ones, compared to my first set.)

Now, I’m waiting for tomorrow when they take the wax impression. Apparently, I’ll get to see what my actual teeth would look like before completion. Once that is all done, it will be another 24 hours before they will be done.

Although the dentist, staff, and the guy actually making the dentures has reassured me that this time they will be fine.. I’m scared that they still won’t fit. I had a ton of issues during the molding process.

9 Days without teeth and I’m feeling super down and depressed. I’ve barely eaten, and only leave my house for appt.

I’ve attached a picture of the oversized temps that I have now. With some work I can get them in, but they won’t stay. So, it’s painful and not functional.

Mine were too big also but i had them shaved down a bit so they didnt give me a huge duck lip. Im 6 months out now and go in tomorro for my permanent reline and the denturist said he will shave them down so they are more comfortable . Etc. At the moment i can stick my finger between the front teeth and the gum. As the denturist said its hard to get dentures to fit look good 100% when they are going in straight after extractions as gums shrink etc .

Thank you. My teeth were awful before, so anything would be an improvement.

It sounds like your dentist is as least working with you to make sure you get something that fits. That's very positive!

I would question why you are getting your permanent ones so soon , your gums will be shrinking during the healing process. I had all of my real teeth removed on Sept 14th...have temps . I go in every month for a soft liner which helps
I am not scheduled for my permanent set until March 2018 due to my dentist states that it takes 6 months for gums to heal and stop shrinking and by then all the bone spurs will likely to be gone.
Good Luck but question why so soon because you will be having the same issue with your new ones.

I thought they were just remaking her temps. Good question if they're not.

They are just remaking my temps. I won’t be getting my permanents until around April 2018. They are using the same process as they would while making permanents, but that’s only because I have had a so many complications and they want to insure a good fit.

Just as Noreen said I'd be questioning why so soon also. I had my tops pulled in march and had temps placed in immediately but I won't get my perms until Dec 18th which is 9 months. Every dentist I had talked to says it takes at LEAST 6 months for gums to stop shrinking and changing but closer to 9 to 12 months for all changes to b done. I would be concerned to get perms too soon and couple months later they don't fit anymore.

My set of temps made have the wrong shape, bite, and overall are not functional. So, they are remaking my temps, but they are just using the same process as they would with permanents due to all the difficulties I had.

Melissa, I honestly think they look great. You have a lovely smile. Maybe it’s just different than what you are use too? Because I don’t see anything wrong at all.

Hi Crystal, you look beautiful. Your dentures don't look big at all. They look really natural.
