Hi Lesa, sorry to hear you are having trouble talking with your new denture. It definitely takes a lot of practice to adjust to having top dentures in, but I have some tips that may help. First, bite and swallow to make sure your dentures are in place. Practice speaking by reading aloud, and talking in front of a mirror. Counting from 60-90 can help practice some of the more difficult sounds. Unfortunately, it can take a lot of time and practice to be able to sound normal to yourself. Many people have had this difficulty and they report they are talking much better within 6 months. You can also report this issue to the dentist and make sure that it’s not an issue with the fit of your denture. I hope this helps, and best of luck!!

Hi Lisa yes sorry that you having problems with your denture and I say that if it feels  like you're talking into your denture ,sounding  hollow ,+,  vibrato...your denture may be too loose. Do you use anything to hood them in place?  I use glue and strips and then don't forget a little down the middle so that sticks firm to the roof of your mouth because it just sounds like your dentures may be too loose.  2 months is  very early on so.. it sucks I know but we're all in this together!  you're not alone!  Have a good Day!!

I am a lecturer and performer and was devastated by the sound of my voice at your point of progress. I was whistling with every 's' sibilant.

One day I just decided that my old voice went the way of my old smile. Once I converted to permanents, the whistling was gone and now I have come to grips with sounding different. I can sing 'The Auctioneer' with no trouble as long as it's not late in the evening.

When my jaws get tired after 2-3 hours of talking, I start to get lazy and sound drunk. That's when the fun begins LOL
