Adjusting to eating?
I just began week 3 after full extractions (28) and immediates. After 2 weeks of shakes, smoothies and soups, the denturist finally fixed my bite and I was so excited to go home and "eat!", but nothing I did seemed to work. I started with a very small piece of a soft roll, and it just seemed to get lost in my mouth, I couldn't even find it to try to swallow it. Then I tried some macaroni, it took forever to chew one piece and I felt like the same thing happened; very small pieces would move to the roof of my mouth and I felt like I had to just swallow them whole. Next I tried scrambled eggs and just ended up in tears. What is the trick to learning to chew again?! How long does this process take? I'm doing everything I've read: tiny bites, up and down motion, etc. I know it hasn't even been a full day since I became capable of even biting down, but I'm so depressed and terrified I am going to just be one of those people who still can't eat 6 months from now! Meanwhile I am averaging losing about a half a pound a day. Any help or even just optimistic words would be greatly appreciated!
